The Ultra Trail race returns this year, marking the first ultra trail race of the season in Egypt. The event is set for March 9, ready to welcome intermediate and advanced runners and hikers from all over the country.
The Biggest Ultra Trail Race in Egypt
The Wadi Degla Ultra Trail invites you to traverse the stunning, varied terrains of the Wadi Degla Protectorate, fostering a commitment to environmental preservation and the sustainability of outdoor activities.
This event showcases three exhilarating race lengths. The 10km race is tailored for novices eager to experience trail running, the 30km introduces a fresh, more demanding challenge, and the traditional 50km race provides a thrilling quest for seasoned runners.
Support checkpoints (CPs) will be strategically positioned along each course, offering hydration and assistance to participants. The 50 km race features seven CPs, and the 30 km race includes three. It is mandatory for runners to pass through each checkpoint, where Ultra Ibex personnel will be on hand to provide any necessary support or aid during the Wadi Degla Trail series.
The races are designed with elevation gains that accommodate individuals of various ages who maintain a robust level of fitness and health.
- 50KM Race: Elevation gain of +850 meters
- 30KM Race: Elevation gain of +500 meters
- 10KM Race: Elevation gain of +150 meters
Timing and Location
The Ultra Trail takes place on the Wadi Degla Protectorate, a 12-km long canyon located southeast of Maadi, Cairo, in Egypt. The venue is a tourist attraction and is considered one of the most important valleys in the country because of its history and unique scenery. Participants are expected to go to the starting point outside the Degla Protectorate car gate from Zahraa El Maadi Entrance on race day. The organizer will host the event on Saturday, March 9.
