31st Egyptian Marathon in Luxor

The 31st edition of the annual Egyptian Marathon returns in January 2024 with running and skating events for athletes of all skill levels. Local and international athletes can join the race and kickstart their global marathon journey with events accredited by the Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Run Through Egypt’s History

The Egyptian Marathon is the oldest ongoing marathon in Africa and the Middle East. It has been held regularly for 31 years now, always welcoming athletes from all walks of life and introducing the historical landmarks of Egypt.

The 31st edition will offer four major race courses and categories for runners. Athletes categorized under the Male, Female, Open, and Masters division categories can join any of the four courses:

• Marathon (AIMS measure – 42.195 KM)
• LuxorRun (22.289 KM)
• Ramsis Run & Walk (12.336 KM)
• Hatshepsut Run & Walk (5 KM)

For skating races, participants can choose among the following distances: 12 KM, 22 KM, and 42 KM.

The 31st Egyptian Marathon is accredited by the Abbott World Marathon Majors, so participants can collect points to be included in future Major Marathons events on top of their physical awards on site.

Timing and Location

The 31st Egyptian Marathon is set to grace Luxor, Egypt’s most illustrious city, on January 12, 2024. This extraordinary event commences at the venerable temple of Queen Hatshepsut and winds its way through a captivating journey, encompassing several ancient landmarks, including the temple of Habou, the temple of Amenophis, the iconic Colossi of Memnon, and numerous other historical treasures.
