HOW TO MAINTAIN THIS SITE

How we keep this site useful

A directory is only as good as the day you last touched it.

Sports Events Egypt covers a lot of ground: running races in Luxor, kitesurf weeks in El Gouna, triathlons in Sharm, club training nights in Cairo. Most of these change every season. Some get cancelled, moved, renamed. Some new ones appear that nobody has heard of yet. This page explains how we keep the site current, what to expect from a listing, and how to tell us when something is wrong.

How we check what we publish

Every event on the site is checked against the organiser’s own page or against the federation that sanctions it before it goes live. Dates are taken from the organiser, not from third-party calendars. When the date is announced but not finalised, we mark it as TBD so you know to confirm before booking travel. When an event is over, the site moves it to the past list automatically. Nothing on the site is paid for. Featured placement is editorial and clearly labelled.

How we write

Most readers are not native English speakers, so we keep sentences short and the vocabulary plain. We use British spelling. We avoid brochure words like “world-class”, “premier”, or “a rare combination of”, because they describe an advert, not a place. If something is good, we say what makes it good. If something needs a wetsuit in January, we say so.

The Style Guide page lists the rules in more detail.

How sport guides are kept current

Each sport guide on the site has a small editorial team behind it, made up of people who actually train and race the sport in Egypt. Guides are reviewed once a season. When we update one, the change applies to every page that uses it: the sport landing, the events filtered by that sport, and the related-content blocks on event pages. That way the picture stays consistent across the site.

When something is wrong

If you spot a date that has changed, a club that has moved, a price that is out of date, or anything else, please tell us. The fastest way is to email hello@sportseventsegypt.com with a link to the page and a one-line description. Corrections usually go live within a working day. If you are the event organiser, please also send the link to the official source so we can credit it.

For organisers

If you run a race, training programme, or club, you can list it on the site for free. Submit through the For Organizers page. We will be in touch within forty-eight hours to confirm details. We do not charge for a listing and we never will.

For contributors

If you would like to write about your sport, take photos at events, or help update a city guide, write to us at hello@sportseventsegypt.com with a short note about what you do and where you train. We work with a small group of regular contributors and we are always open to new ones.

The basics, in one place

Everything on this site is built around three promises. Accurate: we check before we publish. Free for athletes: browsing, joining clubs, reading guides costs nothing, and never will. Honest: we describe places and events as they are, not as a brochure would describe them. If we ever fall short of any of those, please write to us.
