The Trifactory, in partnership with Red Bull, will bring the toughest 1K race in the world to Egypt. Red Bull Quicksand, a one-of-a-kind event Egyptian and international athletes and amateurs shouldn’t miss, launches on September 25.
1 KM Quicksand Race
The Red Bull Quicksand race is one of today’s most challenging obstacle races in the world. The 2021 edition in Egypt will require competitors to push through the sand with their bodies and follow the competition’s knockout format—heats, semi-finals, and finals.
On top of the physical challenges involved in the foot race, participants will also spend 1.6x of their total energy for the 1-kilometer race on sand instead of a flat, road surface. The sandy course comes with sand-filled obstacles and climbs to test their endurance, acceleration, and speed.
Here’s the breakdown of the race format:
- 8 Heats
- Top 50% from each heat progress to the semifinals
- Semi-Finals: 2 Heats – Top 25% from each race go through to the finals
- Finals: 2 Heats – Top 3 from the male and female categories make the podium
Timing and Location
For the first time ever, Red Bull Quicksand will take place in Egypt at ZED East in New Cairo. The venue is a 400-acre compound developed by ORA Developers. It’s filled with premium and state-of-the-art villas, apartments, parks, entertainment complexes, and other developments.
The event would take place on September 25, Saturday. The official start time has yet to be released by the organizers, but participants are required to arrive one hour before the heat start time to receive race packs and race numbers.
