The Great Pharaohs Runners kick starts the 2022 competitive year with the Great Egyptian River Nile Marathon, an annual region-wide running festival open for local and international runners. Amateur and professional runners can join the WA / AIMS-certified race and build up their portfolio on March 4, 2022.

The Great Egyptian River Nile Marathon is a running festival packed with various events and WA / AIMS-certified competitions based on skill level. All in all, there are four race categories: Full Marathon (18 years and up), Half Marathon (16 years and up), 10 KM (14 years and up), and 5KM (12 years and up).
Participants of the Full and Half Marathon can be qualified for the Boston Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Tokyo Marathon, and other WA / AIMS-certified international races if they completed the qualifying time.
Meanwhile, winners of the 10 KM and 5 KM races will receive award cups, and the first five winners in the Half and Full marathon will take home trophies and prize money. The prize money depends on the participant’s placement.
Timing and Location
The Great Egyptian River Nile Marathon takes place on March 4, 2022, Friday. The Full and Half Marathon will begin at 7:00 AM, while the 10 KM and 5 KM are set at 10:00 AM. The race venue and course take place within El Shorouk City, Cairo. The designated starting and finishing point of all events is at Gamal Abdalnaser main road’s public park.
