ABOUT THE EVENT

Aquaman is an open-water swimming series featuring races in destinations including Malta, Austria, Turkey, France, Dubai, and Malaysia. Somabay, on Egypt's Red Sea coast, hosts the series' World Final from Thursday, October 29, to Saturday, October 31, 2026, at S.cape Beach. With distances from 500 m up to 15 km, the event has room for children, first-time sea swimmers, and marathon swimmers chasing a long day in the water.

Location and arrival

Somabay is a resort peninsula on the Red Sea, about 45 km south of Hurghada, and the nearest airport is Hurghada International Airport (HRG). With morning start times and start-area procedures to complete, plan to be at the beach well before your race.

Registration and race packs

Race packs are collected at the venue on the afternoon before your race: Thursday for Friday’s races and Friday for Saturday’s races, each followed by the race briefing for those races (exact times are in the schedule below). Your race kit includes a swim cap, a timing chip, and a race tattoo with your number.

Thursday, 29 October

  • 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm: Race pack collection for Friday’s races
  • 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm: Race briefing for Friday’s races
  • 7:30 pm to 8:15 pm: Aquatalks ambassadors panel
  • 8:15 pm: Carbo-loading party

Friday, 30 October

  • 9:00 am: ULTRAquaman (15 km) and Aquaman (10 km) start
  • 9:30 am: Aquaman 5.0 (5 km) start
  • 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm: Race pack collection for Saturday’s races
  • 2:30 pm: Aquakids (500 m) start
  • 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm: Race briefing for Saturday’s races
  • 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm: Award ceremony for Friday’s races
  • 9:00 pm: After party

Saturday, 31 October

  • 9:00 am: Aquaman 2.0 (2 km) start
  • 11:30 am: Aquafins (1 km with fins) start
  • 12:30 pm: Aquateams (3×500 m relay) start
  • 3:00 pm: Award ceremony for Saturday’s races

All activities take place at S.cape Beach.

What to bring

The mandatory items are your safety buoy and the swim cap and timing chip from your race kit, plus fins if you swim the Aquafins race. The wetsuit policy had not been confirmed at the time of writing, so train in a normal swimsuit and check the organiser’s updates before packing one.

  • Goggles, plus a spare pair
  • Towel, sandals, and dry clothes
  • Sunscreen, a cap, and sunglasses for before and after your swim
  • Water bottle and a small snack for after the race

Awards and results

Every finisher receives a medal and a finisher T-shirt. Results are timed electronically, and award ceremonies are held at the venue after each race day. Volunteer support and a post-race recovery area are part of the event services.
